Our Story
Once a city street named Moyer Street, the space where Moyer Street Park is proposed has gone unused and fallen into disrepair following the city removing street access in 2014. The neglected space now serves little purpose and is not maintained, leading to uneven ground, abandoned vehicles, illegal dumping, and overgrown weeds that make it unusable for pedestrians and cyclists.
The areas surrounding the Moyer Street Park parcel noticeably lack accessible green spaces. The nearest parks and dog parks, Pops and Palmer, are a 15 to 20-minute walk away, leaving residents with few options close to home.
With the lack of nearby green space in mind, neighbors who frequent the area have long been aware of the condition of the space and decided to take action. This led to the formation of Friends of Moyer Street park, a neighborhood group with the goal of turning it into a park that can serve the needs of the community and provide a much-needed green space for all to enjoy.
